📖 How to Play OllieBoard
The Standard for Honest Work

At OllieBoard, we believe businesses thrive when reciprocity reigns supreme — a genuine spirit of mutual benefit rooted in American meritocracy, where financial success is a leading component.

We believe the people doing the work deserve real input and a fair, objective mechanism to define what meritocracy actually means. This game is the scoreboard that makes that belief real.

We're not hiding the goal: we're building smaller, high-performing teams that get paid more. Teams that cover more ground together, earn more together, and stay together longer — because the productivity gains are shared directly with the team. That's not just corporate talk. It's the deal — stated plainly, up front, before you ever play a single round.

This is a game built on liberty, equality, and fairness.
While playing OllieBoard, you'll earn points that convert directly into a discretionary bonus added to your regular pay — with the potential to increase your take-home pay by up to 30%.
📲

Meet Ollie

Ollie is your personal facilitator and guide inside the game. He's not here to monitor your work or report back on you — the employer has already agreed to the bonus plan. His only job is to help you understand the rules, make better decisions, earn more points, and maximize your take-home pay under the plan.

Think of him as your coach — fully on your team.
Coming soon — Ollie by voice. The next version of Ollie works ambiently, the way Alexa or Google Home do. He'll call the store phone, greet you by name, read you your next task, and wait on the line while you complete it. No screen required. No app. Just a voice in the store that's always working alongside you. For now, everything runs through Discord.

Ollie's Smart Store

OllieBoard is designed to grow into a fully IoT-enabled environment — think of it as a private Alexa or Google Home built specifically for your store. Sensors, cameras, and connected devices can be added over time to objectively measure and verify the work happening in real time, without relying on anyone's word.

This matters because it keeps the system fair for everyone. When verification is objective, no one can be falsely credited — and no one can be falsely denied. The score reflects reality.

The team proposes the sensors. Ollie implements them.
If you think a task in your area could be better verified — a temperature sensor on the prep station, a door counter on the walk-in, a timer on the oven — you can suggest it. Ollie evaluates whether it can be implemented objectively. If it can, it gets added. The team shapes how the store measures itself.

This isn't surveillance. It's the opposite — it's the team deciding what fair measurement looks like, then building the infrastructure to prove it. Every sensor added is one less ambiguity in the system, and one more way honest work gets accurately counted.

How Tasks Work

Ollie posts tasks to your team's Discord channel. Each task shows the zone or area, the point value, and its current status. You never have to navigate threads, find a menu, or use a special command. Just talk in the channel the way you normally would — Ollie is listening and handles everything else behind the scenes.

🔴
Posted — Open
Task is available and waiting to be claimed. Anyone can pick it up.
🟡
In Progress — Claimed
Someone has it. Ollie updates the status automatically the moment a claim is made.
🟢
Complete — XP Earned
Done and confirmed. Points are attributed to you automatically.
🆖
Abandoned — Reposted
Task sat too long unclaimed. Ollie reposts it with its accumulated point value — no penalty, just a fresh opportunity.
🗣️

Claiming a Task

Just type in the channel that you're on it. Ollie understands natural language — you don't need a specific phrase:

●  "I've got zone 1"
●  "Starting zones 1 and 2"
●  "On it"
●  "I have 1 and 2, Marcus has 3 and 4"

Ollie reads your message, figures out which task you mean, flips it to 🟡, and logs the time — all silently. The channel stays clean. You just work.

🏆

Marking Complete

Same deal — just say so in the channel:

●  "Done with zone 1"
●  "Zones 3 and 4 are finished"
●  "Finished"

Ollie resolves which tasks you completed, moves them to 🟢, and attributes the points to you. The points are yours the moment you confirm.

Unclaimed tasks accumulate value. If a task goes through multiple postings without being claimed, its point value carries forward and grows. Not picking something up isn't a penalty — it's just an opportunity that's still on the table, worth a little more each time.
While some tasks are required for regulatory reasons, the vast majority are voluntary. You choose what to pick up. Over time, the board creates an honest, visible record of who steps up — no hidden monitoring, no score-based discipline. Just transparency the team can see and respond to on its own.
🐷

Track One — The Piñata Bonus
The short game. Resets after every OA.

Every task you and your teammates complete adds to a shared Piñata pool. No individual competition — the whole crew fills the pool together. When your store goes through its Operations Assessment, the full pool pays out as a bonus, split proportionally based on each person's contribution.

Daily Piñata Rate
$25 / day
Base rate. Increases $25/day per teammate below baseline
OA Multiplier
Your OA Score

Payout
Each OA Visit
Split proportionally to all contributors
The Piñata bonus is real money on top of your regular pay. Its purpose is simple: visible proof that your work is being converted into cash — transparently and fairly.
Productivity Bonus: When the team absorbs work from a departing teammate and maintains output with fewer people, the daily Piñata rate goes up automatically. This is how we deliver on smaller teams getting paid more. The math works for the crew.

The Piñata resets after every OA and starts fresh. Operations Assessments happen at random and typically occur about twice a year on average, though they can happen more often.

Track Two — Pass Go
The long game. Compounds forever.

Every space on the board represents a key job area. Complete the tasks in that area repeatedly to earn points. Here's how it works:

  • Complete a specific task four times → Earn a gold ⭐ on that space
  • Collect a gold star on every space → You Pass Go
  • Passing Go increases your level and triggers a permanent raise
This raise is automatic and permanent. It doesn't disappear next pay period. Every full lap around the board earns you another raise. Most people complete a revolution in roughly 90–180 days. That's real, compounding pay growth — delivered by the system, not negotiated with a manager.
⭐
Stars
Each task category has a clear star threshold. Hit it and earn a permanent gold star on that space. Stars never reset — they're your lasting record of mastery.
👑
Mayor
The teammate with the most completions on any space becomes its Mayor. Their avatar appears on the board for everyone to see. Ties go to the highest-leveled teammate — diligence and consistency matter most.
🎓
Alumni
Once you complete the full board — Pass Go at least once — you become an Alumni of the store and franchise. This proves you've mastered all operational areas and makes you eligible for additional programs and opportunities.
📈
Staying Pays
Every cycle you stay is another revolution toward your next raise, and another OA payout you're eligible for. To receive a Piñata Bonus payout, you need to be an active teammate when the OA is assessed. The longer you stay, the more you've built — and the more you stand to earn when the next payout hits.
📋

The OA Connection

Operations Assessments are surprise visits from the franchisor that score your store on brand standards. That score (out of 100) directly determines your final Piñata Bonus payout.

OllieBoard helps you prepare by generating a simulated OA score based on the tasks you complete. The tasks on the board are specifically designed so that if you consistently complete them to a high standard, hitting a 90–100 on the real OA becomes much easier.

It is a shared responsibility between you and Ollie to keep the simulated OA score as close as possible to the actual OA score. You're encouraged to suggest better verification methods.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Minimum for Payout
A minimum 4-star OA score is required for any Piñata Bonus payout.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
5-Star Recognition
5-star performance unlocks additional recognition, especially for Mayors. Higher OA score = larger payout. Same work. Better results.

Who Gets to Define Meritocracy?

For too long, leaders alone defined what good work looked like and decided how — or whether — to reward it. There was no clear scoreboard, no transparent rules, and no reliable way to connect effort to reward.

OllieBoard changes that. The rules are published upfront. Point values are visible. The payout formula is fixed. No one can change the rules after the work is done.

We know meritocracy isn't always the reality. Systems are imperfect. Workplaces are complicated. People get overlooked. But meritocracy is worth aspiring to. It's worth building toward — deliberately, transparently, one task at a time. OllieBoard is that attempt, made concrete. Not a promise that the world is fair. A commitment to building something in this store that is.

Most importantly, we believe the people doing the work deserve a real voice and a fair, objective mechanism in defining what meritocracy actually means in their store.

OllieBoard isn't surveillance disguised as a game. It's a transparent tool for mutual success, wrapped in the most engaging format we know: a game. When the rules are fair, visible, and shaped with input from the team, good work becomes its own reward — and everyone wins when the team performs at its best.

Honest effort. Clear rewards. Shared success.
This is how we build better businesses — together.
🎵

One More Thing

We hope OllieBoard brings a little fun to your day. Work is work — but it doesn't have to be only that.

Down the road, the team will be able to choose apps to add to the store's OllieBoard environment. A jukebox. Games. Other tools the crew decides would make the shift better. The team gets to decide what goes in — the same way the team decides what meritocracy means.

We're just getting started. Thanks for playing.
